It usually goes something like this:
1. Red's nose goes on high alert and it gets real close to the ground
2. He finds a location in the grass and uses his little hands to dig a tiny hole
3. Red buries his nose in said hole
4. Then, this happens:
He'll just lay there and scoot-scoot-scoots his little body all over the place and get real wiggly. Why does he do this? Someone please explain.

my dog does this sometimes. it's usually when she finds something that smells really good (translate: something that smells really awful) and rubs herself in it so she could smell that "good," too.
