donkey kong. as in, it's on like...

Sometimes the Left has these delusions he just can't shake. See his last post, for example.

The above is what Red will be doing all weekend. Dreaming of chasing bunnies and eating human food.

And UCLA.

final four

Big weekend! So as some of you already know "the way left" went to UCLA (puke) and I'm a big fan of UF, so the house is going to be divided this weekend... Who will Red choose? Well we all know Red is a winner and winners like to stay together so Red has decided to go with the University of Florida Gators. I know it sucks always winning but Red and I will deal with it.

separation anxiety

Here are some pictures of Red having yet another separation anxiety attack after having been left behind in the car with me while the Left ran into the post office:

Since his view from the side window must've been hindered in some way, he repositioned himself to get a better look:

After seeing no signs of the Left from both vantage points, he reluctantly wandered over to me:

That's pretty much how it goes everytime we're left in a parking lot together somewhere. After a couple of minutes, he'll finally give up:

And for the record, my typing ability has not been forgotten nor compromised.

in the water

There must have been something in Red's Fiji water last night. As I woke up at 3:30 this morning and Red had his headphones on listening to that song I want to party all the time, party all the time, party all the time... He was going crazy. At least I wake up at 8am not 6am to go to work. For those of you wondering "the way left" is feeling better, but I think she just forgot how to type... Every time I think I'm mad at Red I see a photo like this, I just can't be mad at him!

all dachshunds need to chew

That's the name of one of the chapters in the Guide to Owning a Dachshund; witch is the book that "the way left" got me right before Red entered my life. So since Red has been soo well behaved lately I decided to get him pack of Nylabone's. If your not familiar Nylabones are suppose to be better for them to digest. Ok sorry too much information... the point to the story is, this morning I woke up and I felt Red's little wet noise on my leg as he was scampering around I looked under the covers to find Red trying to get his bone, witch he had buried underneath my leg. He never can just leave his bone put, once he's done with it, he always buries it, or at least he thinks he is...

politics

It's always politics... above is the photo I sent in of Red for a contest on www.crailtap.com he was one of three finalist in THE CRAILTAP BEST PHOTO OF THE CUTEST DOG unfortunately politics came into play and here is what they had to say on there website...THE CRAILTAP BEST PHOTO OF THE CUTEST DOG takes a sharp unfair turn, as most of the contests in this column do. First off, Red is eliminated. He didn't learn from Atiba and tried to send a photo of himself as a newborn puppy. Actually, you can't blame Red; you have to blame his owner. Sorry Red, might be time to run away to live with a different family. Pretty cute, though. he...

who knows maybe they didn't like Red's left beliefs…

And yes finally "the way left" is home, but she is now sick so it's a no win situation for any of us... I hope you feel better and never the less Red is really happy you are home safe and sound!

p.s. how cute is my dog??

That was the longest 4-day trip I've ever taken.

new friends

Last night Red and I went to a friends house to watch some b-ball and to watch our brackets fall apart and for Red to make some new friends... now if Red ever gets himself into a sticky situation Clyde and Mobley got his back... those are good friends to have since Clyde & Mobley are a combined weight of around 140lbs. Clyde I think is named after NBA great Clyde Frazier is Mobley named after not so great NBA player Cuttino Mobley? "The way left" is still jet setting around the world, and we are missing her company right about now. Come home soon!

weekend roundup

It was another busy weekend for Red. Although he insisted on keeping it mellow, he covered some great distances within the LA area: Santa Monica, downtown, Koreatown, Venice to name a few...

And then, of course, there was time for a nice midday shut-eye as well...

Also, most of the time, Red thinks he's human: sitting on chairs before you can, cover his face with his "hands" when he's being coy, shitting on the floor - you know, human stuff. And then there are times when he thinks he's a t-rex (small dog complex, I think):

This picture was taken mere minutes before he attacked. Actually, I caught him mid-yawn after his afternoon nap.

And lastly here's the little fella' playing catch with his favorite toy. Imagine the sound of his little hands and feet on the hardwood floors (as my camera's too old to capture it itself):

for the record...

I know plenty about sports.

fame

Just two weeks into living in Los Angeles and Red is already making it big. I knew it was only time... he was spotted on crailtap just last week. Since "the way left" is going to be writing a weekend roundup before she's off jet setting around the world for a week, I figured I could talk about March Madness so many interesting storylines, of course it's Red's first tournament and he is soo torn. Tennessee (where he was born) is playing Long Beach St. (where his first memories of California are) in the first round, but he is going with Tennessee since like I said before LB is just a thing of the past. Red has his new hometown team UCLA making it until the elite 8 before falling to Kansas. So his final four is looking like Kansas, Florida, Texas, Tennessee (he really sticks to his roots) I think he knows as much about sports as "the way left". Red is starting to not feel so good; I might have to call in sick on Thursday if he doesn't get better...

So you're one day older today then you were yesterday...

Here's a picture of The Left blowing out the candle on his double-chocolate-fudge-more-chocolate-monstrosity-of-a-birthday cake at Ruth Chris over the weekend. This is just about the face I'd expect The Left to make when I shout at him, "WAIT, LET ME TAKE A PICTURE" (he held this pose for a good 10 seconds while we waited for my camera to load flash):

And yes, that IS water in the background. But don't worry, The Left hasn't lost his touch. There's an empty jack-and-coke glass just outside of view.

In other news, Red's been having a hard time adjusting to the new place. It could be the hardwood floors or his heavy-footed canine frenemy upstairs. His peak barking hours have been between 4am and 5am, although he doesn't really discriminate against 2am or 6am either. Poor guy - what is it Red?

Birthday, Schmirthday!

Birthday wishes and caviar dreams to The Left as today marks the 24th anniversary of his birth. Humor and wit escapes me at the moment but incriminating post-birthday pictures and clever remarks to follow shortly...

Happy birthday. Get ready for sandwich.

The thing is...

The thing that The Left "forgot" to mention regarding the cat harness fiasco was that it was 10:30pm on a Tuesday night so my only option was to go to Ralph's and rummage through their pet supply section. And although their selection was not up to par according to The Left's very high standards, I only had Red's best intentions in mind. I mean, come on. Wouldn't you do anything for this guy?

he's a dog not a CAT.

Red has been walking around with his tail between his legs, maybe it's because "the way left" got him a cat harness instead of a dog harness after he ate his last one for lunch on Monday.
