the cone - friend or foe?

Red's adjusting to the cone, or the "Elizabethan collar" nicely. He's learned how to eat and drink with it on, but turning corners and chasing flies still prove to be a little tricky. A minor mishap last night ("Uh oh", says the Left, half asleep, "he got out of his cone and is eating it") but still doing brilliant. Considering.

a strange day for us all

Wait. What's going on here?

The Spongebob balloons were the Left's peace offering to Red. The flowers - for me. And the Barry McGee piece - thanks to our favorite gallery girl Lindsay, this piece finally came out of hiding and is proudly hanging over the faux-mantle.

Back to Spongebob. Apparently, Red did not like the idea of a free-floating, yellow sponge with a goofy grin. In fact, he was so scared by the thing that he would run up to it, give a quick bark, then would scurry away with his tail between his legs. But the Left's intentions were good and soon, Red wasn't so scared anymore:

Thank you "BOYS II MEN" thank you

Some of Red's final thoughts before his big/sad day that is tomorrow..(we are getting our baby neuterd)

Although we've come to the End Of The Road
Still I can't let you go
It's unnatural, you belong to me, I belong to you
Come to the End of the Road
Still I can't let you go
It's unnatural, you belong to me, I belong to you

Girl, I know you really love me,
You just don't realize
You've never been there before
It's only your first time
Maybe I'll forgive you, hmm
Maybe you'll try
We should be happy together forever, you and I

Can you love me again like you loved me before
This time I want you to love me much more
This time instead just come to my bed
And baby just don't let me, don't let me down

poor red.. :(

snuggle bed beta

After seeing a similar item online, I thought I'd dust off the ol' sewing machine and try my luck at making Red a snuggle bed. This is kind of a misnomer as it's not so much a bed as it is a pillowcase-type contraption that Red could burrow himself into (it's lined with sherpa). Unfortunately, I didn't take enough time to work out the dimensions and the thing turned out way too small. Red, so thoroughly disappointed and disgusted by this, threw up on it twice and 'snuggle bed beta' as it shall be known, is now sadly sitting on top of the dirtly laundry pile. Mocking me with its throw up stains and uneven seams.

Initial test looks positive:

Something is not right:

And finally, Red willing himself to poop on my failed attempt to win his affection:

They're gonna give daddy the Rainman suite, you dig that?

...well maybe not this time... Just got back from alittle Vegas trip over the past couple days.. Highlights, Tropicana, seeing my friends Shaun Moore and his lady, and the always-rude 58-year-old cocktail ladies that I love to aggravate. Ohh and I almost forgot, Congratulations are in order for "the way left", Red, and myself... no it's not that, but it is our 100th post! P.S. Happy Birthday MOM, from the three of us.. here are a few pics from the trip, NYC, MGM, and of course Red.

New York, New York..

that cat is so biiiiiig, Red looks like he went a few rounds with that lion at the dog camp, a little beat up, just like myself I'm sure he is saying you should have seen the other guy.

I believe that bone is the same size as Red.

wonder who sleeps more the lions @ MGM or Red?

From the looks of it Red just got off a 3 day bender.

obedience, schmobedience

In between eating things and peeing on things and barking at non-existent things, Red has his moments of complete obedience. Although, it takes a couple of tries:

Great success!

11 months and 1 day ago, this little guy came to be:

late nights

This is what Red ends up looking like after one of his weekend benders:

dog needs refresher on private property laws

The Left and I have so far dismissed Red's complete disregard for other people's property as mere puppy behavior. But as he's nearing the 1 year mark, we're leaning more towards spite than anything else. The Left is minus 1 pair of glasses (Red feasted on those months ago). And there's the walllet he's had for 5 years (I believe to cleanse the pallet, Red started off with the dollar bills, then moved onto the Georgia license, credit cards and finally for dessert, the wallet itself). As for me, a couple of recent incidents:

Who knew Red loved boat shoes too (especially insoles)? Good thing these Lakai ones fit right in.

Brilliant book so far ("The revolt hadn't been put down, it had just dwindled away into a fashion statement.")

Blast! Red loves it too. So much that he felt the need to eat the pages right out.

Red, snickering to himself in utter delight.

He may lick his own butt...

But Red takes his hygiene very seriously (check out the tongue action in each shot):

All done (but hating life)!

my seester, part II

My sister is political. So politial in fact that when the Left jokingly posted about my leaning towards the Chinese presidential candidate, she sent me the following email:

Sees, I just read the blog. Chiiii-nese Kucinich??? LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOL!

Since the last debate, I've been telling Jake I'm not sure why more people are not supporting Kucinich. I know he is a wacky guy, but he is the most progressive on that stage, by far. He is also the only one that is for a TRULY UNIVERSAL healthcare -- single payer (federal government) system like in Canada , France , UK , and Germany . All of the other candidates SAY they will provide universal healthcare but are a bibimbop (mixed rice bowl) of employer coverage, some government funded coverage, and private insurance. It's basically like mandatory drivers insurance: some people will always choose not to get insurance because they either can't afford it or want to spend money on something else. Chiiii-nese Kucinich!

Wait, before I get too excited to have found a Kucinich supporter, do you really like him or just joke about Chiiii-nese.

my seester, part I

My obsession with the beastie boys stemmed from my sister's obsession with the beastie boys, circa 1994. It's 2007 now. NO SLEEP 'TILL...PHILLY c/o my sister:

blog approval ratings down

According to the Left, our blog approval ratings are down. Way down. And it's all my fault. In order to reclaim readership, here's post #1 of many to come this weekend.

We'll start with some pictures of Red looking dapper and a little bit country with this red bandana:
